14.26 Grace the best of them. Branden Grace has got off to the best start of the afternoon starters. He is -3 through 6.

14.11 Conditions seem easier for the late starters. The late starters seem to have got the better of things. A lot of players have got off to quick starts.

13.38 Great start for Westwood. Lee Westwood has shot off with two birdies in his first four holes. A perfect start for the Englishman. Could he finally get a win here at Wentworht?

13.14 Fitzpatrick signs for a 67. Matthew Fitzpatrick has joined Richard Bland in the clubhouse at 67. South African pair Dean Burmester and Darren Fichardt are still on the course at -5. Can they find another birdie?

12.55 Englishman at the top. Matthew Fitzpatrick moves back to the top at -5 and The Back Nine favourite Chris Paisley moves to -4, one behind the three leaders.

12.37 The big groups are underway. The big afternoom groups are out on the course. Alex Noren begins his defence alongside Rory McIlroy and Lee Westwood.

11.54 Double for Poulter. A double bogey for Ian Poulter at 15 sees him drop back to +3. A disappointing start for Poults.

11.32 Fitzpatrick alone at the top. A great birdie putt at 12 sees Fitzpatrick to -5 and into the lead on his own. Could this be another big win for the young Englishman? He has already won the British Masters.

11.45 Rory getting ready. Rory McIlroy is making his final preperations before he heads to the first tee. Can he win here again as he did in 2014?

11.31 Former Masters Champ on the move. Feels like it has been a while but Trevor Immelman is at -3 and in a tie for 3rd.

10.54: New leader. Alex Levy birdies the 9th to turn in 31 (-4) and he take the solo lead.

10.47: Paisley to -2. The Englishman got his first win in South Africa earlier this year. This would be on another level. It is safe to say we are rooting for Chris here at the Back Nine.

10.24: Will Levy be playing on home soil at the Ryder Cup? Alex Levy joins Matt Fitzpatrick at the top of the leaderboard. A win here and it may be hard to keep him out of the team in Paris.

10.22: Wallace back on track. Matt Wallace got off to a rough start but three birdies in four holes has got him back to even as he starts his back nine.

10.17: Bland on the move. Richard bland birdies 11 and 12 to move to -3 and into a tie for the lead.

9.30: Fitzpatrick flying. Another birdie for Fitzpatrick and he is the first player to get to -3.

9.20: Bad starts for Thomas Pieters and Matt Wallace. Both at +3 already and leaving themselves a lot of work to do. Matthew Fitzpatrick on the other hand has got it going early and is -2 through three with the par five 4th to come.

9.16: Bold claim from Dave Haywood on our Facebook page: “Rory will miss the cut by 2 shots”

Do you agree?

9.05: Chris Paisley is underway. You can read our interview with him from earlier this year here. A big few weeks for Chris who could push himself into contention for the Ryder Cup with a good run.

8.53: Not sure who Elliot is rooting for…

Elliot Whattingham on Facebook: “Great stuff boys. Go on ‘BEEEEEEEEEEEEF’”

8.40: EAGLE. Jordan Smith eagles four to get to -2 and take the lead.

8.38: Pedro Oriel, Richard Bland and Paul Waring are the three men under par now.

Early bogeys for Ian Poulter and Matt Wallace have seen them slip over par already. Plenty of time to fix that though.

8.19: The big groups of the morning session are all starting to head out on to the course. Ian Poulter, Matt Wallace and Tommy Fleetwood are going to draw the biggest crowd of the morning.

Just behind them we have Rafa Cabrera Bello, Ross Fisher and Padraig Harrington.
