The latest installment of our race to find the most memorable moment in Masters history sees two epic meltdowns.
First we have Rory McIlroy who lead by four going into the final round in 2011. It didn’t get off to a good start as he bogeyed the first. A triple bogey at the 10th put an end to his chances.
Charl Schwartzel took advantage. He birdied the final four holes to win in amazing fashion, but 2011 will always be remembered for McIlroy’s collapse, despite the heroic finish from the South African.
Danny Willett picked up his first major in 2016 in a very similar way. Jordan Spieth looked like he was cruising to his second green jacket. However, multiple visits to Ray’s Creek on the 12th ended in a quadruple bogey and a win for the Englishman.
