This week the PGA Tour heads to Riviera Country Club for the Genesis Open.
Tiger Woods makes his second start of the season after his return to the tour at Torey Pines last month.
It is hard to see him competing but his return to health will be his main focus. He finished in a tie for 23rd in his last tournament and a similar finish here will be seen as a success.
One player who will not be happy with just a decent finish will be Dustin Johnson.
This week marks a year since he won here to claim his place at the top of the world rankings – a place he has not relinquished since.
Johnson won by five shots a year ago and he can be just as dominant this week.
He has shown some good form already this season and is rightfully the strong favourite.
Even at a fairly low price of 5/1 he could have some value. He has four top five finishes in the past five years here including last year’s win.
Also, in his past five starts around the world he has four top 10s and showed some great form in last week’s AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am where he finished as runner-up.
Johnson is in such good form, at a course where he has a superb record, it really is hard to look elsewhere and that is why he is my only pick for this week.
However, if you were looking for some longer shots there are a couple that stand out.
Charl Schwartzel (60/1) has shown some form at this course with two top five finishes in 2013 and 2014.
Bubba Watson (50/1) is a two time winner at Riviera and could offer some value.
However, for me there is just one man and that is the best player on the planet right now.
